Mahtomedi Middle School students in their Middle School Success class recently had the opportunity to learn important online safety skills from our School Resource Officer (SRO), Kelly Olson. The learning opportunity was organized by Jean Oswald, Secondary Media Specialist at Mahtomedi Public Schools, and complements the digital literacy lessons she shares with Mahtomedi Middle School students.
During the presentation, students learned about the following topics from Deputy Olson:
Education and Prevention of Cyberbullying and Cyber Crimes
✅Protecting Personal Information
✅Safe and Responsible Use of Technology and Social Media
✅Understanding a Digital Footprint
Ms. Oswald and the team of teachers who develop the curriculum for the Middle School Success classes shared question prompts in the weekly grade-level newsletters so families can talk about online safety at home, too.
Middle School Success is a new course for grades 6-8 this year and is dedicated time every other day to focus on academic and life skills for success now and in the future.
