Walking School Bus Event

O. H. Anderson (OHA) Elementary School recently held its Walking School Bus event. A Walking School Bus is a group of children walking to school with adults. Principal Susie Prather and OHA staff members led the walking school bus, picking up students along the way and finishing at school with a healthy snack. Members of Mahtomedi’s Safe Routes To School (SRTS) Committee supported the event with adult volunteers and had fun walking along the route with students!

Mahtomedi Community Education organizes the Mahtomedi SRTS Committee, which combines advocacy and informative events to encourage and empower families, students, and staff to walk, bike, and roll to school more often. Earlier this school year, the Committee supported the installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons  (RRFBs) and sidewalks leading to OHA.
