Three female students in a cooking classroom

Students in Mahtomedi Community Education’s youth enrichment classes had a fun, productive month of June as they learned and practiced a variety of career and life skills. Community Ed offers opportunities that cater to all interests and hobbies from STEM camps, to culinary arts, to arts & crafts, and more. In these classes students develop both knowledge and passion for hobbies and career paths they may not encounter in the normal school setting.

For example, students interested in beauty enjoyed multiple days of Cosmetology Camp. In this class participants learned about hair care and braiding as well as hand care and nail painting. Students practiced different styles and techniques on mannequins.

Youth enrichment students also thrived in Community Ed’s various culinary arts classes. From cake decorating to breakfast-themed recipes, students learned to make an array of dishes and treats. Check out this short video to see what one of our cooking classes looks like! These offerings are great ways for students to learn the do’s and don'ts of cooking and baking in a safe, supportive environment. Students also learn important lessons about kitchen safety and cleanliness.

Also amongst Community Ed’s June youth enrichment offerings were various STEM camps, including building Lego RC cars, drone racing, rocket launching, and robotics. These opportunities test students' creative thinking and problem-solving as they work with new technology and tools. Participants also test their projects in competitive yet fun environments.

It is not too late to join in on opportunities like these! Join Community Ed through the rest of summer in these youth enrichment classes and more. From early childhood, to youth enrichment, to adults Mahtomedi Community Ed has summer activities for all. Check our summer catalog for all our summer offerings, and always register at Eleyo!
