Youth Enrichment Coordinator Jamie O’Hara recently joined Mahtomedi students Isabella Burth-Stratton (fourth grade) and Eleanor Delaney (first grade) in presenting about the elementary production of “Space Pirates” at the Zephyr Learning Showcase. The Zephyr Learning Showcase is open to all community members and is an opportunity to see our students’ learning in action in a resource-fair format.
At the showcase, Isabella and Eleanor answered questions about the play, the roles they played, and what they enjoyed most about performing. Space Pirates is a story about being comfortable in your own skin. The cast, which included over 30 elementary students, practiced two mornings a week before school and performed in two shows at the Maplewood Community Center.
Mahtomedi Community Education partnered with Ashland Productions to provide this before-school theatre program. Programs like this allow students to explore and develop their interest in live theater in a fun, welcoming environment.
Mahtomedi Community Education is looking for more actors in Grades K-10 to register for this summer’s production of “The Pied Piper” in partnership with Missoula Children's Theatre! Click here to register.
