On November 7, Mahtomedi Middle School and High School students attended the first of a three-part cultural foods cooking class through Mahtomedi Community Education in partnership with @ManyFacesWBL
At the first class, students learned about Minnesotans who are making an impact with cultural foods, including Chef Yia Vang, Chef Sean Sherman, and local entrepreneur Vy Dam. Ms. Dam is the owner of Hello Boba and shared with students her story of immigrating from Vietnam and opening her Boba Tea shop in White Bear Lake. Students sampled the Boba Tea during class, and Ms. Dam gave them instructions on how to properly enjoy and experience the tea.
The students are preparing for a cultural foods showcase, and during this first class, the students had time to research cultural food recipes thanks to the support of Librarian Kate Buechler Washington County Library Ms. Buechler brought a large selection of cultural foods cookbooks from Washington County, and students were able to check out books and sign up for library cards.
All community members are welcome to attend the showcase on November 15 from 4-5:30 pm at Mahtomedi Middle School. RSVP here: https://bit.ly/47rrZi3
